On November 7th, roughly 2,000 Grade 9 students will head to workEvent Date: Nov 07, 2012
It’s part of “Take Our Kids to Work Day,” an initiative spearheaded by the Learning Partnership to get kids thinking about career choices. By spending a day at work with a parent, relative or friend, students not only gain exposure to the skills required in today’s workplace, but develop an appreciation for their parents’ roles in making a living and supporting their families. The experience also helps students gain a better understanding of the complexity of career choices open to them and provides an opportunity for them to start exploring different careers in a practical and fun way.
For parents, it’s an opportunity to participate in a shared experience with their child and enrich their child’s experience with discussions before, during and after the workplace visit.
