St. David's collects "Pennies for Pesos" building campaignStudents and staff at St. David Catholic Elementary School have been collecting pennies for the board-wide "Pennies for Pesos" fundraising initiative in support of the D.R.E.A.M.S. (Dominican Republic Education and Medical Supplies) Program. Proceeds from the fundraising campaign will be used to build a 200-dormitory in San Jose de Ocoa for students and others travelling to the Dominican Republic on D.R.E.A.M.S. missions and service projects. The campaign was initiated by Sister Mary Jo Mazzerole from the St. Joseph's Hospitalers who has dedicated 42 years of her life to serving the poor in the D.R. Pennies were collected in tins, boxes, containers and baskets over the past couple of weeks, and were tallied this past Friday for a grand total of $345. Way to go, St. David! Pictured here are two members of the St. David Student Council along with teacher advisor Edy Graziani counting and rolling the mounds of coins.
