Sadey inspires school with her positive attitudeEleven year-old Sadey Memmolo is blind, but that doesn’t prevent her from participating in a wide variety of activities at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Elementary School. Although she relies on a cane and walks with hands outstretched in self-protection, Sadey doesn’t let these things become barriers to her enjoyment of life. Instead, she uses those extended arms to embrace her ife. The grade 6 student keeps a busy schedule that includes Wednesday cooking sessions, dance class, and weekday morning announcements in addition to her regular school work. “That’s the way I like it,” says the outgoing and energetic youngster.
Sadie is what teachers wish all their students could be – happy, interested, and fully engaged, says Principal Toni Kovach.
“We are very lucky to have Sadey at Sacred Heart,” reflects Kovach, “a student who is loved by all and inspires us all.”
