On November 14th, schools “Think Blue, Wear Blue” to increase awareness about diabetes and diabetes education.Event Date: Nov 14, 2012
Wednesday, November 14th is World Diabetes Day, a day that engages thousands of students and families in diabetes advocacy and awareness. The date was chosen to mark the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who, along with Dr. Charles Best, discovered insulin in 1921, forever changing the lives of people with diabetes around the world. All schools are encouraged to celebrate by having students come together to form blue human circles in their school yards at 1:00 pm in a show of support for classmates, family members and loved ones who live with diabetes. With the support of our schools, together we can raise awareness about the seriousness of diabetes and help save lives through prevention.
The school that demonstrates the most spirit and creativity in spreading the word will be recognized with a Spirit Award, valued at $200.00.
