In its second year, St. Mary Catholic Secondary School hosted its fall session of the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program “MAC Talks” speaker series.
Highlighting the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Program in Health and Wellness, guest speakers from the McMaster University chapter of Altitude Mentoring shared their post-secondary mentorship and medical faculty experiences with senior biology classes at St. Mary. Three 2nd year McMaster medical students, Jessica and Emily, both co-site coordinators for Altitude at McMaster, and Sorina, McMaster Altitude Outreach Co-ordinator, outlined the mentorship and activities program for students interested in a health care career through a slide presentation and engaging discussions.
The "MAC Talks" speaker series was created to offer informative reach-ahead discussions where McMaster faculty community outreach programs can interact and share resources with St. Mary students.
The "SHSM on I.C.E." Speaker Series (Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship) hosts professional speakers from the six SHSM sectors offered at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School: Business, Construction, Energy, Health and Wellness, Non-Profit and Community Development, and Transportation.
