Thanks to Chef Vijay Jos at St. Charles Adult and Continuing Education, clients from Mission Services are discovering a little goes a long way.
Each month, Jos, from the Culinary Arts Program at St. Charles, hosts food demonstrations with simple ingredients clients can find at their local food bank.
With an emphasis on healthy eating habits, Jos prepared tuna pasta salad and garden vegetable pasta salad, showing how the same produce can be used to prepare different dishes.
Those in attendance were thrilled to not only taste the final product but inquire about tips and tricks for other dishes.
As winter approaches, more collaborative ventures will be held, offering soups, stews and other hearty meal options.
