Every day is a great day for hockey. Even in a snowstorm.
A “Cops and Kids” Ball Hockey Fundraiser for McMaster Children’s Hospital Autism Program was held in the gym at St. Thomas the Apostle elementary school in Waterdown Friday morning. School principal Kevin Camilleri said “the event will not only bring awareness to an important cause, but will help build community with Hamilton police.”
Students, many decked out in hockey jerseys from their favourite teams, filled the gym to cheer on classmates as they battled a team representing Hamilton police. Students who donated to the autism program received a commemorative hockey stick key chain and were entered in a draw to take a penalty shot against the HPS team goalie.
Despite the inclement weather, Hamilton police horse Griffin and Const. Leisha Robertson also showed up to answer questions from students.
