May 21-28, 2023 is Laudato Si’ Week and marks the eighth anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on care for creation. This global celebration will unite Catholics to rejoice in the progress that has been made in bringing Laudato Si’ to life. The theme for the week is Hope for the Earth, Hope for Humanity.
On May 11, the ECO team at Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School, in collaboration with Green Venture’s Stewardship Tree Care Team, brought Laudato Si to life by planting trees in front of their school. The morning began in prayer, followed by a safety and planting demonstration with Green Venture Staff and lastly, the planting of three tulip trees by ECO team members and Green Venture staff.
“The collective efforts and commitment of the ECO team at Bishop Ryan CSS and Green Venture Staff are a shining example of how our Catholic school community is fulling our vocation to care for God’s creation,” says Secondary Religion Consultant, Jennifer Curtis.
