The Institute for Catholic Education invites everyone involved in, and caring about, Catholic Education in Ontario to join together in prayer.
In May, we celebrated Catholic Education Week, a time that reminded us of our call to love. As stated in the First Letter of John, “If we love one another, God lives in us.” (1 John 4:12)
As we have turned our minds, in a particular way this year, to families and the love of God in and for families, let us once again pray together focused on the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus—a heart that overflows with love for each and every one of us and for the whole human family.
Our Novena begins with a Day of Preparation on Wednesday, May 29th, followed by nine days of prayer leading up to the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday, June 7th, 2024.
A novena is an ancient Catholic tradition of nine consecutive days of prayer, leading up to a specific feast day, during which a particular blessing or grace is sought.
It provides us with a chance to deeply reflect on the compassionate love of Christ. The Sacred Heart symbolizes a dependable, faithful, and life-giving love that we experience in Jesus through the Gospels, the Sacraments, and our faith journey.
Let us celebrate this profound love and come together in prayer, honouring the Sacred Heart of Jesus and embracing the blessings it brings to our lives.
In preparation for the Feast Day, the attached contains a brief explanation and the themes and prayers for each day.
