Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic students continued their winning streak after a successful system science and engineering fair by raking up awards and medals at the Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF), proving that big ideas do indeed present “infinite possibilities.”

From March 20 - 22 and March 28, 2025, they joined students from Hamilton, Halton, Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties and Six Nations to compete for cash, prizes and scholarships worth more than $200,000.

BASEF inspires young minds to change the world through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, providing students with opportunities to showcase their innovations and discoveries.

“It is important to recognize the passion for science that these students exhibit and their willingness to share their findings with the many spectators who attended this year's BASEF,” commented Assistant Superintendent of Education Sandra Scime.

“It was a privilege to see the pride on our students faces as they came up to accept their award.”

“We also want to recognize the principals, teachers and parents who played such an integral role in our students’ success.”
