At Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Elementary School, student put their faith into action through a heartfelt food drive called DominOats.
Rooted in the Catholic call to almsgiving, DominOats served as a powerful reminder that the smallest acts, done with love, can become part of something much greater.
Over the course of Lent, students were invited to bring in boxes of cereal in support of Hamilton Mission Services to help feed local families in need.
In total, 1,760 boxes of cereal were collected.
“But this wasn’t just a food drive — it’s a celebration of compassion and community,” said Teacher Alessandra Baird.
“The collected boxes became part of an exciting school-wide domino display, symbolizing how one small act of kindness can create a powerful ripple effect.”
“The Dominoats initiative was an engaging and creative way for our students to encourage one another to answer Christ’s call of service and discipleship for those less fortunate within our broader community,” said Principal Giovanni Di Martino.
“Through DominOats, our students are learning that when we give, we grow — in faith, in love, and in service to others," said Baird.
