This year, the Grade 8 class at St. Ann Catholic Elementary School in Ancaster embarked on a unique hands-on journey in financial literacy, guided by Mrs. Stampone and retired Educational Assistant Ms. Ciccarelli. Beginning in January, students engaged in a real-world business simulation that included resume writing, interviews, and placement within various departments of a student-run company.

Each Friday, students dedicated time to product development, marketing, web design, budgeting, research, and sales, bringing their entrepreneurial ideas to life. Their company, WorldWide, was inspired by the theme One World – Endless Possibilities, and culminated in a vibrant, carnival-style event for the school and wider community.

The project was a tremendous success, raising funds through student-led activities. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Bright Run in support of breast cancer research in the Hamilton area, with the remainder supporting Grade 8 graduation celebrations.

This initiative not only highlighted the students’ creativity and teamwork but also provided valuable learning experiences in leadership, collaboration, and community service.
