On November 7th, students from across the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board participated in the annual Dramarama event at the Nicholas Mancini Centre, hosted by St. Jean de Brébeuf Secondary School.

The event brought together over 90 dramatic arts students from various secondary schools within the board.

“The day was a celebration of improvisation, creativity, and performance,” said Teacher Katherine Carey.

The event centred around an exercise where groups were tasked with creating a 10-minute scene based on randomly selected theme from the morning session that would later be showcased in the afternoon. Each skit needed to incorporate creative movement, dialogue, and choral speaking/song all within a short timeframe.

“Dramarama provides dramatic arts students with a vibrant space to explore their potential in a supportive and engaging environment,” said Carey.

“More than just a performance opportunity, it underscores the essential role of the arts in education – nurturing creativity, collaboration, and self-expression that extend far beyond the stage. Each year, Dramarama stands as both a celebration of student talent and a powerful reminder that the arts are a vital part of learning, growth, and community.”
