Students at St. Michael Catholic Elementary School and Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Elementary School recently welcomed members of the Hamilton Police Service into their schools.

At St. Michael CES, Kindergarten students spent time with community officers, including Officer Ryan, Officer Indy, and Hamilton Police mascot, Coppy. Students asked questions and learned about the role police officers play in keeping communities safe. They were especially interested in how police service dogs assist officers and how mounted police horses support patrols across the city.

At Holy Name of Jesus CES, officers are a regular presence in the school, supporting the breakfast program and connecting with students each morning. Constable McKenna, Constable Stewart, Constable Keenan, and Constable Ormond help greet students, hand out food, and spend time getting to know them.

“Our main focus is breaking down barriers between youth and the police—transparency is key in this day and age,” said Constable McKenna. “We enjoy connecting with students and letting them know that we are here to help.”

We thank the Hamilton Police Service for their continued time and support in our school communities.
