On Holy Thursday, students and staff across the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board gathered to pray the Stations of the Cross and remember Jesus’ love and sacrifice.

At Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary School, Grade 8 students led the Stations of the Cross, guiding their peers and staff through each station with reverence and care. Gathered in the gym, the school community paused to reflect on Jesus’ journey and the love and sacrifice at the heart of the Lenten season.

Guests were warmly welcomed by Principal Frappa. The school community was joined by special guests including Chairperson of the Board Mr. John Valvasori, Mr. Patrick Daly, Executive Director of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA), and Superintendent of Education Mrs. Adele Filice.

The school was also honoured to welcome Bishop Wayne Lobsinger. During his visit, Bishop Lobsinger blessed the bread and grapes, reminding those gathered of Jesus’ presence and love. He spoke about the importance of showing love, especially to those who care for us and reflected on Jesus’ sacrifice for all people. He also shared the significance of the Holy Eucharist, with the bread and grapes serving as symbols of this gift.

Bishop Lobsinger wished the community a blessed Easter.

A similar reflection was also held at St. Luke Catholic Elementary School, with many schools across the system marking Holy Thursday in this deeply meaningful way.
