Students Celebrate BeFit Day with Tiger-Cats

Students from St. Lawrence, St. Luke, and St. Patrick Catholic Elementary Schools took to the field in Tiger Town’s Hamilton Stadium last week to participate in an exciting and energetic BeFit Day, focused on promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

The event was part of the FirstOntario BeFit Program, a Hamilton Tiger-Cats community initiative that brings together Tiger-Cats players, dance and cheer team members, and a variety of local partners to create an incredible experience for youth centered on health.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to run drills alongside players, test their athletic skills, and impress the dance team with their best cartwheels and routines.

In addition, local community partners introduced students to activities such as lacrosse and golf, giving them the chance to try new sports and explore different ways to stay active.

“BeFit Day emphasized the importance of physical activity while creating a fun, memorable experience that inspired students to embrace healthy habits,” said Equal Opportunities Consultant Nicole Sheehan.

“You could hear the cheers across the field as Simoni Lawrence announced that each student would leave with vouchers for a game this season.”

One student from St. Patrick even shared that it was “the best trip of my life.”

“Not just because we got to do so many cool things, but because of how nice everyone was to us.”

“Thank you to Paige Hardie and her team, and all of the Ticat players and dance and cheer members who made magic for our students,” said Sheehan.
