Do you have a child starting Grade 9 this September at an HWCDSB secondary school? Consider registering them for Passport to Grade 9!
The program’s emphasis is on providing a snapshot of the Grade 9 secondary experience by orienting, supporting and meeting the needs of incoming students. It is facilitated by fully qualified teachers and focuses on preparing the students for the major differences between their elementary experience and their upcoming secondary school journey.
Passport to Grade 9 is a two-day program which includes the following:
- Receive your 1:1 device (students unable to attend will receive it at the start of the school year)
- Explore your new school environment, including locating classes, lockers, and your timetable with staff support
- Learn how the Grade 9 school day works and what to expect
- Build learning skills, work habits, and confidence for success
- Connect with peers from other feeder schools through engaging activities
- Discover pathways and experience the distinctiveness of Catholic education, including the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations
