... and thank you for your interest in the International Education Program at the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board.

The Hamilton- Wentworth Catholic District School Board is comprised of both Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools:

Elementary Schools offer classes from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8

Secondary Schools offer classes from Grade 9 to Grade 12 (student must be 18 years old or under to attend)

COVID-19 Impact:

During this period of time, it will be important that you are well informed and prepared for your trip to Canada and the HWCDSB.

To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus the government of Canada has travel restrictions, exemptions, and advice.

In compliance with the Government of Canada’s Quarantine Act, international students arriving in Canada from outside of the country, are required to observe the act before entering and attending school.

INTERNATIONAL FEE-PAYING STUDENTS

An International Fee-Paying Student is defined by HWCDSB as any student who comes to Canada for the purpose of studying full-time and who is in possession of a valid Study Permit as issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

As per the Education Act, tuition fees are required for this type of admission.

STUDY PERMIT EXTENSION REQUEST LETTER REQUIREMENTS

(Applies to ALL International students)

Students who are extending their current Study Permit are asked to complete the Study Permit Extension Letter Request Form. The completion of this form is required by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and should be submitted three (3) months prior to expiration of a Study Permit. Please contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for more details.

PLEASE BE ADVISED

· All applications MUST be submitted to the Assessment Office at the Catholic Education Centre for processing.

· Students are placed in their age appropriate grade, according to Ministry of Education of Ontario guidelines.

· Students will be placed in an HWCDSB school based on space availability.
