Bell Let’s Talk Day provides an opportunity for schools and communities to engage students in meaningful conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, and reinforce the message that support is available and accessible. The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board continues to prioritize student and staff mental health and well-being, and to promote awareness and understanding through Bell Let’s Talk Day, taking place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

This year’s Bell Let’s Talk Day theme, “Taking a moment for mental health,” invites us to pause, reflect, and care for our own mental health, while also encouraging compassion, connection, and support for others.

Bell Let’s Talk Day is a time to acknowledge that students and adults may experience mental health challenges in response to personal and societal events. It provides an important opportunity to validate students’ varied and unique experiences, encourage help-seeking, and remind them that caring supports are available within their schools and communities.

Schools across the system are encouraged to acknowledge the day in ways that are responsive to the needs of their school communities, supporting conversations that promote mental health awareness, resilience, and well-being.

Staff, students, families, and caregivers are encouraged to join the conversation and to help reinforce the message that no one needs to face mental health challenges alone.

A variety of Bell Let’s Talk tools and resources are available to support mental health conversations, including classroom materials, conversation guides, and awareness resources.

Families, students, and staff can also access HWCDSB mental health and well-being supports available through our schools and system.

Catholic mental health resources are also available to support faith-based reflection and care:

Prayer

Lord, we pray for all those who experience mental health challenges, and for those who walk alongside them in care and compassion. May our schools and communities continue to be places of welcome, understanding, and hope. Rooted in faith and guided by love, may we ensure that no one feels alone, and that all may, in the words of Pope Francis, “find support and a light that opens them up to life.”
Amen.
