At Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School, Graduation Coach for Black Students Jemar Smith, along with students Ife Alake, Omo Okpere and Samuel Apaoluwa, shared their reflections on the meaning and importance of Black History Month.
For them, Black History Month is a time to celebrate. It is about representation and seeing Black people doing amazing things throughout history and today. It is about honouring the sacrifices and struggles of those who came before, while also recognizing their achievements and the opportunities they created for future generations.
