“I have called you by name, you are mine.” — Isaiah 43:1
Secondary student leaders from across the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board gathered on February 19, 2026, at the Nicholas Mancini Centre for the 2026 Culture of Life Youth Conference, united in their commitment to honour the dignity of life and the God-given potential of every person.
The day opened with a candlelit liturgy led by Chaplain Robyn Aguila and Nicky Perri, followed by engaging sessions with Teresa Hartnett (Diocese of Hamilton) and Elea Hoffman (Halton Alive), who guided students in exploring the beauty, value, and purpose of human life.
Students participated in meaningful discussions, deepening their understanding of what it means to be created in God’s image and how they are called to lead with compassion and conviction in their communities.
“I am deeply proud of the collective efforts of our entire team—staff, chaplaincy leaders, and especially our students—whose openness, leadership, and commitment to living out our shared values made this day so impactful,” shared Superintendent of Education Adele Filice.
Grounded in Catholic teaching, the conference inspired students to use their voices and gifts to foster a culture of life, carrying forward the message that every person is created with purpose and deeply loved by God.
