On March 1, the senior classes of St. Lawrence Catholic Elementary School participated in a meaningful Senior Students’ Sunday Mass at St. Lawrence Parish, marking a special moment of unity between home, school, and parish.
This initiative, under the leadership of St. Lawrence Parish Representative Vince Lepore and Grade 8 Teacher Matt DiFrancesco, was designed to strengthen the vital relationship among families, students, and the parish community. By actively participating in the liturgy, students had the opportunity to live out their faith beyond the classroom and assume visible leadership roles within the broader parish family.
Throughout the mass, celebrated by Father Paul Mathew, St. Lawrence students served as lectors, altar servers, and gift bearers. Their participation and confident leadership were evident as they proclaimed the readings, offered the Prayers of the Faithful, and presented gifts to the altar.
Parents and parishioners alike expressed pride in witnessing the students’ commitment and maturity. According to Lepore, “The celebration of the Mass beautifully reflected the strong partnership between school, home, and parish, reminding us that faith flourishes when they act in harmony.”
The presence of so many students and families served as a powerful reminder that faith formation is a collective effort. DiFrancesco noted that
by participating in parish life, students strengthen their sense of belonging and responsibility within the Church. DiFrancesco stated, “Our students experienced the powerful realization that they are part of something much bigger than themselves. I am so proud of how they represented St. Lawrence and embraced the importance of communal worship.”
The strong turnout on Sunday demonstrated the shared commitment of parents, teachers, and clergy to guide students in both academic excellence and spiritual growth. The mass celebration was then followed by a community social in the parish hall.
All those involved in this initiative are committed to having this become a continuing tradition, further enriching the spiritual lives of students and strengthening the bonds that unite home, school, and parish.
