At the September 9, 2025, Special Meeting of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, Trustees appointed Tyler Iorio as Trustee for Ward 7, filling the vacancy created in June following the resignation of long-serving Trustee and former Chairperson Patrick J. Daly.
Mr. Iorio, who previously served as Trustee for Wards 3 and 4 from 2020 to 2022, was appointed following presentations by 11 qualified candidates. Trustees voted to appoint Mr. Iorio after careful consideration of the candidates’ experience, vision, and commitment to Catholic education.
“Catholic education holds a sacred place in my life. It shaped who I am — and it continues to shape future generations of students,” said Mr. Iorio. “I firmly believe in the HWCDSB mission to ‘enable all learners to realize the fullness of humanity of which Our Lord Jesus Christ is the model.’ Catholic schools give students the opportunity to grow in knowledge and faith, to practice virtue, and to discern their purpose. That’s a mission I believe in deeply.”
Mr. Iorio follows in the footsteps of his late grandfather, Patrick Wilson, who served as a Trustee and Chairperson with the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board for more than 20 years.
Congratulating Mr. Iorio on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Chairperson John Valvasori stated:
“It is wonderful to have Tyler back on the Board. His prior experience, passion for Catholic education, and dedication to supporting students and families will be a tremendous benefit to our community. We know he will do an excellent job representing Ward 7.”
Following his appointment, Mr. Iorio signed the Declaration, Oath of Allegiance, and Promise, formally accepting his role as Trustee.
In closing, Chairperson Valvasori offered a prayer of gratitude, acknowledging all who stepped forward:
“Heavenly Father, we thank you for inspiring all of these excellent candidates to devote their thoughts, their time, and their efforts to gain the position of trustee, where their knowledge, skills, experience, and especially their love for You, would make them valuable to the many students in our Board.”
