HWCDSB welcomes Minister of Education Paul Calandra

The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board was honoured to welcome the Honourable Paul Calandra, Ontario’s Minister of Education, on September 1, 2026, as HWCDSB hosted the provincial announcement launching Student and Family Support Offices across all 72 Ontario school boards. 

Minister Calandra was joined by Hamilton Mountain MPP Monica Ciriello and welcomed by CEO and Chief Education Officer David Hansen, Superintendent of Education Adele Filice, members of senior administration and staff, and Student Trustee Jorja Hagins, a Grade 12 student at Cathedral High School.

During his visit, Minister Calandra had an opportunity to learn more about HWCDSB’s Student and Family Support Office and meet with staff who will support families through the office.

Building on the exceptional work already taking place every day in our schools, the Student and Family Support Office provides an additional pathway for families seeking guidance, information and support, while strengthening connections between home and school.

HWCDSB was pleased to host Minister Calandra and share the Board’s continued commitment to working alongside families in support of the well-being, achievement and success of every student.
