A reenactment of the Stations of the Cross by Grade 8 students at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary School on April 17 invited all members of the school community into a communal worship.

Under the direction of Teachers Concetta Roche-Kobernky and Natasha Cimadamore, the school-wide liturgy included a tableau of each station and reflections prepared by the Grade 8 class.

"The journey that Jesus made on that day remains a symbol of Christianity in the world, as it struggles with its own crosses and failures, and the challenges of modern life,” read one student.

“The streets of our towns are filled with people who carry their personal crosses, who are bruised, battered and broken. Through these Stations of the Cross, Jesus is inviting us to journey with Him and to reflect on His suffering as it continues in the lives of His people. In solidarity with all who suffer, let us pray that we will be open to whatever He wants us to see, hear and understand.”

Following the dramatization, Bishop Douglas Crosby was invited to bless little tokens of Jesus for each student to keep with them.

“You have to remember that Jesus lifts us up,” he said. “Jesus lifts us up and He saves us. He loves us, and that's so important.”

“As we enter the Easter Tridium, we are reminded of the immense love Jesus has for us,” added Principal Jenny Frappa.

“Let us remember Jesus's great love and be sure to continue to live as joyful, hopeful disciples as we rejoice in the peace and joy of Easter.”
