Recently, Immaculate Conception Catholic Elementary School's Grade 5 students took learning beyond the classroom with a walking field trip to Redeemer University.

Guided by their teachers, Mrs. Ciancone and Mr. Pellegrino, students participated in an interactive workshop led by the Daily School Route (DSR) in collaboration with five Redeemer University students enrolled in the CTS 410 course.

The workshop challenged students to assess their route to school—specifically from Klein Circle, through Redeemer University (Royals Rd.), and along Kitty Murray Ln.—identifying ways to make it safer and more enjoyable for younger students. After brainstorming improvements, students took a short break before voting on their peers' ideas.

As part of this ongoing initiative, these Grade 5 students will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the conceptual plan developed by Redeemer University students, incorporating their suggestions. This collaboration between DSR, Redeemer University, and the City of Hamilton continues to support efforts in enhancing the school route for future students.
