The countdown to the Great Big Crunch is officially on! Staff at Father Kennedy Catholic Education Centre kicked off this year’s event with a resounding “crunch,” celebrating the importance of local food and healthy eating.
Set to take place on March 6, 2025, the Great Big Crunch brings students and communities together for a synchronized apple crunch while highlighting the value of fresh, local food. Thanks to the generous support of FirstOntario Credit Union and Drummond Farms, schools across Hamilton will enjoy crisp, delicious apples as they take part in this fun and educational event.
During the kickoff event, Chairperson of the Board, Patrick Daly, expressed deep appreciation to the representatives of Tastebuds Hamilton present during the celebration. He commended them and Board staff for the positive difference they make in the lives of students and, through programs like the Great Big Crunch, the contribution they make to the realization of the mission of our Catholic school system.
HWCDSB is grateful for the continued partnership with Tastebuds Hamilton and looks forward to another fantastic year of crunching, learning, and celebrating local food together. Now, more than ever, a growing number of students rely on nutrition programs to support not only their physical health but also their learning, mental well-being, and overall success in school. This important initiative helps ensure students have the nourishment they need to thrive in all areas of their lives.
