Due to the heavy snowfall last week, snowbanks have accumulated across many streets and parking lots. As we navigate winter conditions, Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services (HWSTS) would like to remind families of some important safety precautions.
Snowbank Safety Please remind your child(ren) to stay off snowbanks at bus stops and school loading zones. Snowbanks create blind spots for drivers and increase the risk of students slipping, tripping, or sliding into traffic.
Dress for Winter Weather Cold temperatures and snow can cause delays in school transportation. Ensure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather while waiting at the bus stop.
Check for Bus Delays & Cancellations In the event of inclement weather, please check the Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services (HWSTS) website for updates on school bus delays and cancellations.
Stay Informed with the BusPlanner Delays App If you haven’t downloaded the BusPlanner Delays App yet, we encourage you to do so. This app provides real-time notifications for delays and cancellations on your child’s bus routes and runs, as well as general notices for inclement weather.
