As part of an experiential enrichment opportunity, Junior and Intermediate Gifted students recently took part in an innovative learning experience at the Hamilton Public Library, where they explored the concept of the Golden Record — a time capsule launched into space in 1977 that contained images, music, and sounds representing life on Earth.
Inspired by the original NASA project, students worked collaboratively to create their own Digital Golden Record capturing life on Earth in 2025. Using tools such as iMovie and GarageBand, they applied creative thinking, storytelling, and technological skills to bring their vision to life.
The program encouraged hands-on learning and imagination, with students using library resources, outdoor spaces, and Makerspace technology to support their projects. The result was a fun and engaging day filled with exploration, collaboration, and presentation.
Special thanks to the HPL Youth Services and Makerspace staff for their support in making this opportunity possible.
