An inspiring night of wellness, learning and community connection

St. David Catholic Elementary School welcomed over 300 students, parents, and community partners last Thursday for its third annual Parent Engagement Evening — this year themed “Healthy Mind, Body and Soul.” The event, running from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., focused on student well-being, a key pillar in the HWCDSB School Achievement Plan. Shifting from previous STEM-themed nights, this year’s focus brought together a wide range of engaging activities that supported physical literacy, mental health and career exploration. Highlights included:

  • Agility drills with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
  • A fire truck tour with Hamilton Fire Department
  • Photo ops with Hamilton Police Department including a tour of the police cruiser
  • Paralympic seated volleyball for inclusive physical activity
  • Mathletics, blending math with movement
  • Wellness bracelets with the Health Action Team and Nurse Carol
  • Pilates, guided meditation, and Indigenous teachings
  • Student-led manicures and haircuts from Cathedral and Newman High Schools
  • Career-focused activities from OYAP and secondary student councils
  • Healthy snacks from Chef Vijay at St. Charles Adult Education Centres and the ever-popular Smoothie Bike

Student and staff volunteers helped run the evening, showcasing the strong spirit of the St. David Catholic community.

“We’re proud to bring our school and community together in such a meaningful way,” said organizers. “It’s about building healthy minds, bodies, and souls—together.”
