Last month, thirty teachers from Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board attended the annual When Faith Meets Pedagogy Conference, joining 800 other teachers from across the province. The theme this year “Pilgrims of Hope”, reminded all who participated that we are called to pilgrims with one another building relationships of love, peace and solidarity.

Delegates began their day with a keynote address by Father Richard Leonard, S.J, a Jesuit priest and honourary fellow of the Australian Catholic University.

Through very personal and engaging stories, delegates explored insights into the way God works through people, and often unexpected places and events, how the power of God works in creation and through the unlikely individuals and places as we discover God's transforming love and hope.

Delegates were then given the opportunity to chose from over 50 faith-based workshops offered throughout the Day. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist also took place with the Most Rev. Wayne Lobsinger, Auxiliary Bishop of Hamilton as Celebrant.

Catholic Educators from across the province left the conference with joy in their hearts, a deepened sense of their personal faith and a stronger connection to their vocational call. The impact of this day will forever leave a beautiful mark on all those who participated.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15.13
