Lincoln Alexander Day is a National Day of Recognition held every January 21 to honour one of Hamilton’s most historic and distinguished figures. Lincoln Alexander was a leading figure in the fight for racial equity in Canada. The first Black Canadian member of Parliament (1968), Cabinet minister (1979) and lieutenant-governor (Ontario, 1985), he advocated for the equal treatment of black Canadians.

A Focus on Youth closing celebration at Cathedral High School on August 8 might have concluded 6-weeks' worth of camps, but memories and lessons learned throughout the sessions are sure to last a lifetime. Christian Service Summer Program Returns

After a five-year pause, a meaningful summer tradition has returned, allowing incoming Grade 9 students to begin their secondary school journey with a sense of purpose. This summer, 14 soon-to-be high school students have participated in the revived 40x40 Christian Service Hours Program, completing their mandatory 40 hours of Christian service before stepping foot into their first secondary school classroom.

As a result of the resignation of Patrick J. Daly, a vacancy exists for a Catholic School Trustee to represent Ward 7 in the City of Hamilton. The Board of Trustees has approved that the position for Trustee for Ward 7 be filled by appointment at a Special Board Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

All elementary schools of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board will be open for registration from 9am to 12pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Secondary students can also register in-person at their home school throughout the summer period. Secondary schools are open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 3pm.

As Webmaster and Coordinator of the Christian Service Program for the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, Marchionda’s passion for service was recently recognized as a a recipient of the 2025 King Charles III Coronation Medal.
