The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) warmly invites the Catholic faithful to celebrate together the National Week of Family and Life (NFLW), which takes place May 13-19th, 2024. The theme chosen for this year is from the words of St. Paul, “Love endures all things, trusts all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:7).
Inspired by this theme, the CCCB Standing Committee for Family and Life, in tandem with its corresponding Office, has released a Pastoral Toolkit that seeks to emphasize the joy and beauty of family and life with daily activities to help you engage more fully in the week. The toolkit includes catechesis, and daily prayer intentions and activities for families and parishes.
Families are the bearers of Christian hope, not only by cultivating love within our homes, but also by extending our benevolence to society as a whole. By acting with trust, support and compassion, families become artisans of hope, contributing to the healing of hearts and the renewal of our social fabric.
Let us spend NFLW 2024 united in prayer, reflection, and action, demonstrating our active support for family and life. The virtue of hope, together with faith and love, allows us to foster deep and lasting relationships within our families, with others, and with God. Through God’s love, we see others with ‘the light of hope’ (AL, 117), adopting the compassionate gaze of Christ and witnessing to his steadfast and merciful love.
