We regret to announce the death of Carmelo Esposto on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.  Carmelo was the husband of Katherine Esposto, Teacher at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Elementary School and brother-in-law of Anita Prawak, Teacher at St. Eugene Catholic Elementary School.  Funeral arrangements have already taken place.

Betty-Ann Brown-Sheparski

We regret to announce the death of Betty-Ann Brown-Sheparski on Monday, April 15, 2024.  Betty-Anne was an Educational Assistant at St. Agnes Catholic Elementary School.  There will be no funeral arrangements, however, a Celebration of Betty-Anne’s Life with family and friends will take place sometime in June. 

 

Joseph Scime

 We regret to announce the sudden death of Joseph Scime on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Joseph was the husband of Sandra Scime, Assistant Superintendent – Curriculum Services (Kindergarten – Grade 12) and father of Samuel Scime and Phillip Scime, Occasional Teachers with the Board.  He was also the brother-in-law of Jil Privilegio, Assistant Clerical Support.  Visitation is at Bay Gardens Funeral Home (947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton) on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:30 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Ann’s Church (11 Wilson Street West, Ancaster) on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  Entombment to follow at Bayview Cemetery (740 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington).

Paul Thomas Sheahan

We regret to announce the death of Paul Thomas Sheahan on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.  Paul was the father of Katie Sheahan Lenarduzzi, Acting-Principal at Guardian Angels Catholic Elementary School.  Cremation has already taken place and a private interment will occur at a later date. Anthony (Tony) Gerard Rock 

We regret to announce the death of Anthony (Tony) Gerard Rock on Friday, January 19, 2024.   Tony was the father of Jennifer Rock, Designated Early Childhood Educator at St. Matthew Catholic Elementary School.  He was also a retired Secondary Teacher. A private burial service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tony’s name to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

Michael Lawlor Sr.

 

We regret to announce the death of Michael Lawlor Sr. on Friday, January 19, 2024. Michael was the father of Michael Lawlor Jr., Principal of Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School and brother of Laurie Russell, Teacher at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School.   He was also the father-in-law of Kaitlynn Lawlor, Teacher at Cathedral High School and former husband of Margherita Lawlor, retired Secondary Principal. Leonard Gaspare Giacomelli

Michael Howie Blanche

We regret to announce the death of Michael Howie Blanche on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.   Mike was the father of Michael Perino, Teacher at St. Lawrence Catholic Elementary School and the father-in-law of Lisa Perino, Teacher at St. Luke Catholic Elementary School.  He was also the father of Jason Perino, former Custodian, and Mike was a retired Custodian as well.  Cremation has taken place, and according to his wishes, no funeral will be held. Donations, in his memory, may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Ross Bowman Sr.

We regret to announce the death of Ross Bowman Sr. on Friday, December 29, 2023.   Ross was the father of Amber Connely, Teacher at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Elementary School.  Cremation will take place and interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. A Celebration of Ross’s Life will take place on April 20, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch #58 (1180 Barton Street East, Hamilton).

Alfonsina Castellino
