John Craig McGauchie

We regret to announce the death of John Craig McGauchie on Sunday, March 2, 2025.  John was the father of Kathy Wasylenky, Teacher at St. Eugene C.E.S. and the husband of retired Vice-Principal Joan McGauchie.  John was also the grandfather of Kaitlyn Wasylenky, DECE at St. Thomas the Apostle C.E.S.  A memorial service will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:00 am.  

Gaston Desloges

We regret to announce the death of Gaston Desloges on Friday, January 10, 2025.  Gaston was the father of Jodie Kremble, Special Education Resource Teacher at St. Thomas the Apostle C.E.S.    Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held in Northern Ontario in the summer.

Tamara Holadyk-Nardini

We regret to announce the death of Tamara Holadyk-Nardini on January 8, 2025.  Tamara was a Teacher at Bishop Ryan CSS.  Tamara was the wife of Alex Nardini, Teacher at Bishop Ryan CSS.  She was the daughter of Zenon Holadyk, retired Elementary Principal and Mary Holadyk, retired Educational Assistant and International Language instructor.  She was the sister of Oksana Holadyk, Teacher at St. Charles Continuing Education Centre.  She was the daughter-in-law of Mary Nardini, Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board Trustee and sister in-law of Ashley Castiglione, Elementary Resource Teacher at Corpus Christi CES and Sam Castiglione, Educational Assistant at St. David CES.  Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton Street East, Hamilton on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 5-8 pm and Monday January 13, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 6-8:30 pm.  Panachyda on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 8 pm.  A funeral mass will take place at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church, 15 Olga Street (at Barton St. E), Hamilton on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 10 am.  Interment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek.          

Mary Begin

We regret to announce the death of Mary Begin on Monday, January 6, 2025.  Mary was the mother of Joel Begin, Teacher Librarian at St. Michael, St. Bernadette and St. Ann Hamilton C.E.S.  She was also the mother in-law of Rosa Ribaudo, Teacher at St. Patrick C.E.S.  Cremation has taken place.  A special mass of intention will be held at Our Lady of Vietnam Parish (Holy Family parish) on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 9:00 am.  A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring. 

Fausto Ramelli

We regret to announce the death of Fausto Ramelli on Sunday, January 5, 2025.  Fausto was the father of Vince Ramelli, Manager of Real Estate, Community Partnerships and Transportation.  He was also the grandfather of Erica Ramelli, Long Term Occasional Teacher at Bishop Tonnos CSS and Daniela Ramelli, Occasional Teacher.  Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm.  The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, 200 Mount Albion Road at 10:00 am.  Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud St. East.  Memorial donations to the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.    


Henry Stachurski

We regret to announce the death of Henry Stachurski on December 23, 2024. Henry was the Co-Instructional Department Head at St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School.  He was also the father of Cayley Shaw-Linger, LTO Teacher at St. John Henry Newman CSS and brother of Rose Wegiel, Teacher at St. Ann (Hamilton) CES.  Visitation will take place on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 12-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 28, at 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 934 Highway 8, Stoney Creek, followed by interment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. Adele (Lina) Bombardieri
We regret to announce the death of Adele (Lina) Bombardieri on December 17, 2024. Adele (Lina) was the mother of Bruno Bombardieri, Teacher at Bishop Tonnos CSS. Arthur Ecker

He was the brother of Dominic Romeo, teacher at St. Therese of Lisieux C.E.S. and Theresa Morcone, retired teacher at St. Vincent de Paul C.E.S. Angelo Crosta
We regret to announce the death of Angelo Crosta.  Angelo was father of Sebastian Crosta , Vice Principal at Bishop Tonnos. Angelo was also a former principal with our board at St. Teresa of Avila, Corpus Christi and St. Michael elementary. Mario Bilich
It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Mario Bilich, retired secondary school teacher of 38 years. Mario was the father of Serena Bilich, French teacher at Canadian Martyrs Elementary and Tania Morales, Occasional teacher. The visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel on Thursday October 24, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 5-8 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church on Friday October 25, 2024  at 11:00 am. The interment will be private.

 

Josephine Raso

Betty-Ann Brown-Sheparski

We regret to announce the death of Betty-Ann Brown-Sheparski on Monday, April 15, 2024.  Betty-Anne was an Educational Assistant at St. Agnes Catholic Elementary School.  There will be no funeral arrangements, however, a Celebration of Betty-Anne’s Life with family and friends will take place sometime in June.

Joseph was the father of father of Elyse Tassone, Teacher at Immaculate Conception Catholic Elementary School, Marisa Ricci, Teacher at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Elementary School and father-in-law of Anthony Tassone, Teacher at Cathedral High School. He was also a retired Elementary Principal and husband of Madeline Ricci, retired ESL Teacher. Visitation will be held at Bay Garden's Funeral Home (947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton) on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 3:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Regina Mundi Parish (631 Mohawk Road West, Hamilton) at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
