St. Patrick school welcomes new De Mazenod Door kitchen
“You pray for the hungry. Then you feed them. This is how prayer works.” ~ Pope Francis
On September 1, St. Patrick Church officially opened its doors to the new De Mazenod kitchen located just steps away at St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School.
Operating 365 days a year, the De Mazenod Door Outreach practices faith in action by providing two meals a day for those marginalized in Hamilton. On average, the program feeds over 600 guests a day.
Previously run on the church site, the De Mazenod Door was recently moved in collaboration with the school’s rebuild, which opened earlier in the year on May 2.
Joined by His Excellency, Douglas Crosby, OMI, Bishop of Hamilton for an official blessing, the new site will continue to be a hub for “dignity, personal growth and hope for a better future.”
“I pray that Our Lord Jesus Christ showers all those who have worked so hard to make the establishment of the DeMazenod Door Outreach Program within the new St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School possible and all who will benefit from it with all of His blessings,” says Chairperson of the Board Patrick Daly.
