A late-game skirmish resulted in penalties which threatened to jeopardize Bishop Ryan’s championship hockey aspirations Tuesday. It meant that the Celtics would have to play shorthanded for seven minutes – even though there was only 3 minutes, 24 seconds remaining in the third period. But the first-place Celtics were able to hang on.

As you know, on Monday, April 8, 2024, our region will experience a total solar eclipse. The eclipse will begin as a partial eclipse at approximately 2:00 pm, reach totality at approximately 3:18 pm for roughly 90 seconds, and conclude as a partial eclipse at 4:30 pm.

The girls have completed a 3-year run which began in 2021 when the CYO season was disrupted due to Covid restrictions. In the 2021/2022 season, St. Eugene CES won the Crown Point Invitational and an interschool exhibition game.

The top-seeded Cathedral Gaels defeated the St. Peter Saints of Peterborough, 74-24, and then followed that up with a 76-24 decision over Sault Ste. Marie’s Korah Collegiate Colts. St Mary’s Anna Ptaszek places fourth at OFSAA cross-country championships

By Larry Moko. St. Mary Crusaders runner Anna Ptaszek led all Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic entrants at the 2023 OFSAA cross-country championships with a fourth-place finish. That provincial high school competition was held Saturday at Etobicoke’s Centennial Park. About 1,400 student-athletes took park in boys’ and girls’ novice, junior, senior and para divisions.

By Larry Moko. An aggressive St. Jean de Brébeuf Braves defence really applied the pressure Wednesday – with the exception of one trip down the floor. Late in their Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic girls’ high school basketball game against the Bishop Tonnos Titans, Brébeuf defenders all backed off and allowed an uncontested shot from a player off the bench.
